About the event
Join us to celebrate the launch of Local Fires, the new short story collection from award-winning emerging writer, Joshua Jones.
Josh will be reading from the book and in conversation with Claire Carroll
Joshua Jones (he/him) is a queer, autistic writer and artist from Llanelli, south Wales. He co-founded Dyddiau Du, a NeuroQueer art and literature space in Cardiff. His fiction and poetry have been published by Poetry Wales, Broken Sleep Books, Gutter, and others.
He is a Literature Wales Emerging Writer, 2023, and is currently working with the British Council to connect Welsh and Vietnamese queer writers.
Local Fires, (Parthian, 2023) is his first work of fiction.
Claire Carroll lives in Somerset, UK, and writes experimental fiction about the intersection of nature, technology, and desire. She is also an editor at Lunate Journal and a PhD researcher at Bath Spa and Exeter Universities, where she explores how experimental writing – particularly short stories and prose-poetry – can reimagine how humans relate to the natural and non-human world.
Claire’s short stories and poetry have been published by journals including The White Review, The London Magazine, perverse, The Oxonian Review, and Short Fiction Journal. Her debut collection of short stories, The Unreliable Nature Writer, is due for release with Scratch Books in 2024.
